Motorman Henry Tate of Newark and Dr. George P. Olcott of East Orange watch West Orange Police Sergeant Benjamin Dangler place a funeral piece on 2616, the last trolley, at the Mississippi loop in West Orange.

Uncomfortable in the glare of publicity, passengers transfer from last trolley to bus, continuing their westward journey at 14th Street, the Newark-East Orange border and site of Roseville Car House. Subway cars continued to use Orange Street as access route from the subway to the Car House after the end of trolley service, but carried no passengers.
